CREATING YOUR CUSTOM PIECE: THE DESIGN PROCESS

Creating custom jewellery is a collaborative and mutually rewarding experience. The end result is always unique and very personal. Whether you’re updating an heirloom piece that has been in your family for generations or starting your own tradition, your creation will come to life as a very personal statement celebrating that special moment in time.

Diamonds, coloured stones and pearls in all shapes, sizes and qualities will be sourced on your behalf. We also take care of recycling scrap gold and precious stones at our client’s request. Keep in mind, custom doesn't mean expensive.

Together, we will produce that special piece with your budget in mind.

The design process consists of 4 simple steps:

Step 1: Research (1 - 2 hours)

We want to hear your story, understand your tastes, preferences and interests. Please bring along or send, photos from a magazine, a print or digital photograph, a drawing or a description of your idea

Step 2: Ideation and Preliminary Design (1 - 2 weeks)

Brainstorming and sketching possibilities for presentation and future direction. A sketch fee of $250 is required at this stage to begin work.

Step 3: Final Design (1 - 2 weeks)

A computerized 3D model is presented for viewing from every angle as well as a realistic photographic rendering showing an exact replica of the finished piece. Adjustments are made until its just right. A detailed description of the piece and quotation is now available. A 50% deposit is required in order to progress to the next step.

Step 4: Prototype, the finished piece (2 - 3 weeks)

The final piece is grown or milled by a rapid prototyping machine directly from the computer file created for your viewing. Exact, precise, detailed, fine. Once the wax model is ready, the jewellery crafting begins - precious metals casting, gem setting, finishing, polishing. The result: a beautiful, stunning, perfect and unique piece of jewellery you will enjoy for years to come. The remaining 50% balance is required upon delivery.

Situation: The company required 70 gifts for distributor’s spouses. What made this project unique was that by offering ten different designs, the spouses would not all be wearing the same piece of fine jewellery.
